The spirit of service soared high, and colourful emotions flowed freely as the Rotary Club of Umuahia hosted an intimate yet spirited In-House Handover Ceremony, marking the seamless transition of leadership from Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah to Rotarian Ifeoma Kelenna-Ogbonna.

Held in the heart of Umuahia, the gathering brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, guests, and supporters of the club, all drawn together by the shared values of service, community, and continuity. The atmosphere was vibrant and celebratory, dignified yet joyful, as members heralded the achievements of the outgoing President and warmly welcomed her successor.

With the sun setting behind the serene backdrop of the venue, the ceremony opened with an enthusiastic chorus led by Rotarians and Rotaractors, their harmonies echoing the club’s motto: Service Above Self.

The performance symbolized the collective appreciation for Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah, whose tenure as President has been widely regarded as a model of exemplary leadership.

In her final address, President Nnaomah presented a comprehensive stewardship report that reflected a year of impact, growth, and sustainability.

Notable among her achievements were, Execution of 31 impactful service projects spanning Rotary’s key areas of focus, including health, education, water sanitation, and economic development, 100% increase in club membership, indicating renewed energy and inclusiveness within the club’s operations, Sound financial management, closing the Rotary year with a balanced budget and zero debt, a rare and commendable feat in today’s nonprofit landscape.

Her leadership, marked by innovation, inclusivity, and unwavering commitment, received thunderous applause and a standing ovation. The emotional resonance was evident as members and guests stood united in their gratitude and admiration.

As the ceremonial baton changed hands, Rotarian Ifeoma Kelenna-Ogbonna stepped forward with humility and resolve. In her acceptance speech, she paid glowing tribute to her predecessor:

“President Temitope has not only led with distinction but has laid a firm foundation for sustainable service. I am deeply honoured to step into this role and pledge to build on her successes. Together, with your continued support, we will raise the bar even higher.”

Rotarian Ifeoma, known within the district for her strategic vision and community-driven projects, brings a refreshing dynamism to the role. Her administration is already anticipated to advance the club’s presence, deepen community engagement, and drive impactful collaborations.
