Chima Anyaso Foundation Extends Scholarship to Visually Impaired UNN Student, Reinforces Commitment to Inclusive Education.

From TCNEWS

The Chima Anyaso Foundation has expanded its reach once again, welcoming Miss Nwazuo Precious Nmesomachi, a visually impaired undergraduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as the newest recipient of its fully-funded scholarship program.

Nwazuo, a student in the Department of Social Work at the university’s Faculty of Social Sciences, now joins 363 other scholars benefiting from the foundation’s educational support, bringing the current total to 364.

The official presentation ceremony was held in Nsukka, where Nwazuo received her scholarship award letter and initial disbursement. Present at the event were notable members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, including Chairman Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha (Olakuru Ome), Sir Patrick Irokansi, Pastor Ikechukwu Dike (Eriwe Echeta), and Mrs. Arisa Okparigbo, who together welcomed her into the fold.

The scholarship package awarded to Nwazuo covers full tuition, accommodation, departmental and faculty fees, and a living stipend for the duration of her undergraduate program. The award is subject to continued academic performance.

In a statement shared with the press, Gabriel Paul Aguwa, spokesperson to the Founder and Sole Sponsor of the Foundation, emphasized the importance of the award:

“This scholarship is a reaffirmation of our belief that physical impairments should never limit academic ambition. We are proud to support promising minds like Miss Nwazuo. Her journey is a source of inspiration and a powerful reminder of the role education plays in creating equitable opportunities.”

The Foundation, which has to date supported and graduated over 5,000 students and pupils, continues to be a leading light in educational philanthropy in Nigeria. Scholars are not only given financial support but are also encouraged to be ambassadors of the Foundation and role models within their communities.

In a related development, Dr. Chima Anyaso, Founder of the Foundation, recently paid a courtesy visit to the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), where he met with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and other university officials to discuss further collaboration. Accompanied by his wife and team, Anyaso described the visit as productive and aligned with the Foundation’s broader mission to enhance academic excellence across Nigeria.

This development underscores the crucial role of private foundations in bridging gaps in access to education, particularly for students with disabilities. It also highlights the growing recognition of inclusive educational support as a driver of societal transformation and empowerment. The Chima Anyaso Foundation’s initiative not only invests in academic futures but also challenges societal norms around disability and potential.

“Our goal remains clear, to forge meaningful partnerships with institutions and create sustainable pathways for learning, growth, and transformation,” Anyaso said after the visit.
