Police, NOA Partner to Promote Peace and Unity Amid Security Challenges.

From TCNEWS

The Abia State Police Command has pledged to support the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in its nationwide campaign aimed at rebuilding patriotism and social cohesion, in a significant move to address growing insecurity and foster national unity.

During an advocacy visit by the NOA to the Abia State Police Headquarters in Umuahia, Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and critical given the current state of insecurity across Nigeria. He acknowledged the erosion of patriotic values and expressed concern over how this decline is impacting the effectiveness of national security operations.

“We highly appreciate this visit and this campaign. Our people need reorientation, there is a visible decline in patriotism, and this is affecting our nation,” CP Isa stated. “The police in Abia will fully support NOA’s campaign and collaborate closely to ensure peace and stability.”

The NOA’s campaign, titled “Pathway to National Cohesion, Development, and Unity,” is a nationwide sensitization programme designed to tackle pressing national issues including insurgency, kidnapping, farmer-herder conflicts, and communal distrust.

Speaking during the visit, NOA Abia State Director, Comrade Victor Orji, highlighted the urgency of rebuilding national values and unity.

Representing the agency’s Director General, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, Orji emphasized that national development cannot occur without peace, mutual trust, and equitable inclusion.

“Insurgency, kidnapping, and other violent crimes are destroying lives, displacing communities, and damaging our economy,” he said. “This campaign aims to encourage dialogue, promote tolerance, and rebuild public trust in institutions and in one another.”

He further called on all stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, women’s groups, and the media, to actively promote peace-driven messages and foster unity within their spheres of influence.

The NOA also stressed the media’s responsibility to support the national campaign by disseminating content that encourages tolerance and non-violence.

“We all have a role to play in nation-building,” Orji added. “Peace and unity are not just ideals, they are necessities.”

This visit highlights a proactive initiative that recognizes the deep link between civic education, patriotism, and national security. As insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods in Nigeria, collaborations like this between the police and orientation agencies serve as crucial steps toward building long-term peace and societal resilience.

Also, the meeting between the police and NOA marks a new chapter of collaboration that could serve as a blueprint for similar partnerships across other states.
