Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence that claimed the lives of several unarmed civilians in Arondizuogu communities, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, calling the killings “ruthless and mindless.”
In a press statement signed by Dr. Ikenna Onuoha, his Special Adviser on Media, and made available to journalists, Anyanwu described the attacks on Ndi-Ejezie Umualaoma and Umuakunwata Uno villages as barbaric and unacceptable in a civilized society. The senator, who also serves as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized that no one has the right to take another’s life under any circumstance, urging the youth to reject violence as a means of expression or conflict resolution.
“Imo State has unfortunately remained in the news for the wrong reasons in recent years. There is no political or business interest worth the life of any citizen. This cycle of violence and destruction must end,” Anyanwu stated.
Calling on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led state government to strengthen its response to security challenges, Anyanwu stressed the constitutional responsibility of government to protect lives and property. He noted that restoring law and order is not just a necessity but a duty the government owes every citizen.
The senator extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Arondizuogu, and the entire Ideato North community. He further urged security agencies, both within and beyond the state, to expedite investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
This statement comes amid heightened concern over growing insecurity in parts of Imo State, with communities increasingly calling for proactive government intervention. Anyanwu’s remarks reflect broader political and social concerns about safety, governance, and youth involvement in violence.
“It is only when justice is served that confidence will return to the people and normalcy restored in the affected areas,” he added.
